Mystery inhabitants of Carr Lane 1925 – 1939

Below is a list of occupants compiled from the electoral registers from 1925 to 1939 (1938 is missing from ancestry and electoral registers were not taken during the war years)

The electoral rolls do not seem to have been consistently recorded. Many of the entries do not have house numbers next to them but all entries below are listed between the Carr Lane numbers 11 – 21. Number 13 did not have living accommodation upstairs in the architect’s plan. Names in the last column may have been living above the shops that were not occupied by the owner, namely, No.15, No.18

  • Names in bold are the persons known to own the business.
  • Names in italics and with asterisks do not have house numbers on the electoral roll, however they have been put in the column of the shop that they occupy, which seems the most likely place.
  • It is not to be assumed that those people listed in the last column were definitely living in the parade as house numbers have occasionally been listed out of chronological order and further down the page.
